It is the way certain things are done by a particular group from the communities. There are norms and standard in which people welcome their visitors. It starts from greetings – where in some cultures the host is expected to greet while in other cultures the visitor(s) are expected to greet. It is very crucial to ensure we learn from one another in order to avoid offending one another. Some people do fundamental mistakes by judging other customs in their own standard.
An example of a custom whereby a young brother is allowed to marry his elder brother wife after he has died. This particular custom has many processes of consultation amongst all parties to be involved. These include wife of the younger brother and the deceased wife. Elderly people conduct the negotians until all parties agreed. In the event one party does not agree no force is applied. We also find customs of celebrating different kinds of events like Christmas and other important events. Some customs includes performing of rituals to communicate with their ancestral. That is done in combination of slaughtering a goat/ sheep. It is very important to people to be exposed to as many customs as there available. The knowledge and experiences helps to develop an element of recognition which also leads to tolerance. Customs are part of primary education which avail natural rights and natural law.
